Woking Speakers Club

Privacy Policy

Woking Speakers Club ("we", "us", "our") is a Toastmasters International-affiliated public speaking club based in Woking, Surrey. This page explains what personal data we collect through this website, why, and what your rights are.

What we collect

When you use our contact form, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and any message you choose to send us, including which meeting date you'd like to attend if you select that option. This is submitted via Netlify Forms and stored in our Netlify dashboard so we can reply to you.

When you join as a member via our Join page, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details; Stripe processes the transaction under its own privacy policy. We retain only what's needed for membership administration: your name, email, and payment date.

Why we collect it

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Statcounter, a third-party service, to collect anonymous statistics about how many people visit the site and which pages they view. Statcounter sets a cookie and records technical information such as your IP address, browser, screen size and the page you arrived from. We use this only to understand how the site is being used — it is never used for marketing, and we do not sell or share it. You can opt out at statcounter.com/about/set-refusal-cookie.

Who we share data with

We use Netlify to host this site and process contact form submissions, Stripe to process membership payments, and Statcounter for the visitor statistics described above. If you join the club, your name and contact details are also held by Toastmasters International for membership and Pathways education records, in Easy-Speak for meeting agendas and role scheduling, and in the club's Google account (Drive and related tools) for club administration, each separately from this website and under their own privacy terms.

We do not sell or share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Contact form enquiries are kept only as long as needed to respond to you. Membership records are kept for as long as you're a member, plus a reasonable period afterwards for club administration.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do any of these, email us at info@wokingspeakers.org.uk and we'll get back to you promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
